Emergency Care Information
Due to COVID-19 and mandatory restrictions, our practice will be closed for all non-emergency orthodontic treatments. We will be able to see you if you have an orthodontic emergency.
Please feel free to contact us at email@example.com with any questions or concerns. If you do have an emergency, feel free to add “Urgent” or “Emergency” in the subject line so we can do our best to respond as quickly as possible. You can also leave us a message or contact us by calling (201) 864-8400 or texting (201) 801-5457.
Thank you for your patience while this is all going on.
To our patients in active treatment with braces or Invisalign – We have reviewed additional concerns that may come up:
- Stop wearing elastics if:
- You have any concerns about the overcorrection of your bite or if your bite starts to feel uncomfortable for any reason.
- You have any broken brackets or power chains.
- Your Invisalign trays are not fitting.
- If you are experiencing any discomfort or have any questions or concerns here are instructions and examples of how you can take photos at home. Please call, text or email these to our office at:
- One more friendly reminder to PLEASE be careful with what you are eating. We highly recommend avoiding sticky, chewy, gooey, and hard foods at this time.
Thanks again for your cooperation and please be safe!
Poking WireSometimes discomfort caused by a wire on your braces can be resolved by moving the wire away from the irritated area with a cotton swab or the eraser tip of a pencil. If the wire will not move easily, try covering the end of it with a small piece of cotton or a small amount of wax. If the wire is causing pain and you cannot get to our office, you can cut it using a new and sterilized nail clipper. Use extreme caution if you are using sharp instruments and only handle them if you are able to do so carefully and confidently. If you cannot resolve the wire irritation easily, call our office for an appointment.
Loose BracketCall our office immediately for advice if a bracket or wire is loosened. The bracket may need to be re-fitted. You may have a situation that requires cutting a wire or sliding a bracket off a wire. If you need to cut a wire in case of emergency, you can cut it using a new and sterilized nail clipper. Use extreme caution if you are using sharp instruments and only handle them if you are able to do so carefully and confidently. If you cannot resolve any problems easily, call our office for advice or an appointment to get this resolved.
General SorenessDuring the first week after your braces are placed and after some adjustment appointments, you may feel soreness, discomfort, or pain. You can take pain relievers that you would normally use to help with this. Please note that most patients do not take any pain relievers. If pain relievers are taken, please follow the recommended guidelines and do not take more than recommended doses. A warm washcloth or heating pad may reduce the soreness in your jaws.
Emergency Contact InformationCall our office as soon as possible if you break or loosen any of your appliances. Please do not come directly to the office – by calling us, you will allow us to create a time to see you so you do not have to wait excessively. Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled, call us immediately to notify us if you have a broken appliance so we can make a note of it. We will always try our best to accommodate you but we may or may not repair broken appliances depending on the time allotted for your appointment and your unique situation.
- Stop wearing elastics if:
Our primary concern is the health and safety of our patients and their families. Our office are making every effort to implement protocols to create the safest possible environment for our patients and community.
Insurance & Billing
After verification of coverage, we will agree to bill and collect from an insurance carrier. However, we ask patients to understand that if coverage ceases or changes, the patient is still responsible for the agreed-upon fee.
Whether or not you have insurance or a dental plan, we will structure a convenient payment plan that will allow you to pay for orthodontic services over a period of time that usually coincides with your treatment plan.
